What are your spiritual goals?

This is in Response to the Questions and Reflections for January 31, 2009:

I consider myself a true christian. By that, I mean that I believe Jesus died for my sins, and the rest of the world's as well. I want to follow in his footsteps.  I am constantly trying to study the word and to grow closer to him.  I can only hope to continue to follow his path.

If you could live forever, would you?

This is in Response to the Questions and Reflections for January 26, 2009:

I wouldn't want to live forever, or even for an extra 100 years, becaue that would throw off the natural balance of life.  i can't really explain it, but i feel as though I would be defying nature and god and possibly ruining the lives of those around me.

Who or what would you like to be thankful for today?

This is in Response to the Questions and Reflections for January 15, 2009:

Every morning I thank the Lord for waking me up and I go for there.  That's what I'm thankful for: that I have a life to live.

What question would you most like answered?

Posted on Jan 14th, 2009 by Ashley : Tuition Seeker Ashley
This is in Response to the Questions and Reflections for January 14, 2009:

I would ask, 'how will my life effect others?" I want to do good for the world, and i always wonder if the choices i make will accomplish that. In learning the answer, I would inevitably get a view of my future.  Furthermore, I would know if I needed to make any changes in my life to effect people in better ways.

Do you believe there is value in suffering?

Posted on Jan 11th, 2009 by Ashley : Tuition Seeker Ashley
This is in Response to the Questions and Reflections for January 11, 2009:

I believe that when something bad happens, you learn to deal and cope and if it doesn't break you, it can only make you stronger.  Self inflicted suffering, however, is not the same. It's not productive to suffer because you want to martyr yourself.

Veggies

Posted on Jan 10th, 2009 by Ashley : Tuition Seeker Ashley
So i'm thinking about becoming a vegetarian.  There's only a few problems:

1) i don't know where or how to start.  cutting down on meat is clearly the first step, but i'm really apprehensive about the whole thing.

2) i don't like veggies that much.  I hate the way i feel when i gorge myself on a hamburger with backon and the works, but i don't know what i would eat as an alternative.

I think that i would be a lot happier as a vegetarian, but something is holding me back, and i kinda feel like these are just excuses, but now I want to figure out why.  Any ideas?

Is this really still happening?

Posted on Jan 9th, 2009 by Ashley : Tuition Seeker Ashley

I'm not sure if anyone heard about this, but a man was shot and killed for no apparent reason by a Transit police officer in California.  You can actually watch a very clear video that shows absolutely no reason why he was shot-- even the other two police officers seemed stunned, not sure what to do or what just happened.

I just wanted to point this out because if you listen to the noise, you may hear about riots occurring California, but the reason for these protests aren't always given.  It's time that police brutality stops, no matter where it takes place and in what form, and things can't change if you're unaware.  Mind you, I'm not indicting all police officers as power hungry, out of control jerks (in fact I have several loved ones that are police officers), but I also realize that cops are only people and they not every person has good intentions.  By bringing this to the attention of a wider audience, that audience can't say that they didn't know about the problem.

Jordan King, an inmate, once said that he doesn't sleep on the mattress provided for him because "it's too comfortable and I don't trust comfort in a place like this (prison) because it numbs you to the reality of where you really are and why".  I hope that by bringing up topics such as this, I might keep all of us from getting too comfortable when the world still needs so much work.

I don't have the video, but if anyone could find it and post the link, that would be helpful  Thanx!
